How Involved Would You Get If You Saw Somebody Being Mistreated?
by minimus inwe live in a world where people do not want to get involved.
if they see a domestic abuse, they walk the other way.
if they see signs of neglect or abuse, many just go on with their business.. would you get involved with a situation, even if you might get caught in a crossfire yourself?.

I once drove my car up on to a pavement to help a woman who "appeared" to be getting attacked. On getting out of the car I was told by the woman to "go away!" in slightly less polite terms!
I am not sure if I would overtly do something to help. Some people don't want to be helped or feel embarrassed by others getting involved, but I would certainly tip off child services if it was abuse/neglect of a child.

by looloo inan old friend who knew i had always been "searching for truth" told me to read chapter 111 if nothing else , i did , and i dont know if im more scared than when i was in the cult or feel better for reading it (the latter, i think ) he said i should read the davinci code ,angels and demons , then the lost symbol but i feel guilty for reading stuff like that (you can take the girl out the truth but not the truth out the girl ) has anyone else read these books or knows about chapter 111 when it talks of revalation in the bible ?.

He is very good at mixing facts with fiction.

If I remember correctly the whole russian issue blew up over their comments in the watchtower on the catholic church. I am sure someone else on this board can point to the offending watchtower articles.
Having read the article, I found nothing in the article that really answered or dismissed, the charges that had been leveled against them of inciting religious hatred.
If they are seriously going to hand out this tract, they might as well go and poke an angry bear with a stick!

Its a bit like moving to a new town or country where you don't really know anyone. It can be a bit scary to start with and it takes time.
Join a club or a group, take up a hobby, sport or activity. Mine are sailing, scuba diving, tennis and squash. We also do lots with the greyhound adoption group. If it is something your kids and nugget can do too then all the better.
There will always be people you don't fit in with and other that you don't.
There will be some people you instantly bond with and others it takes a long time.
You have the added issue of removing the "borg chip", and re-aligning your core values and beliefs.
The most important thing is to be yourself.

You mentioned that the cong held the freehold. Thats fine but doesn't mean the building hasn't been mortgaged! Not that it really matters, land values in the UK are stil sailing upwards and debt or no debt there will be a tidy profit for the WBTS!
However if they are moving to a leased property. That suggests a serious case of cost saving / downsizing. Leased buildings would mean paying outfitting costs and ground rent but no other costs.
It sounds like they were trying to do a sale / leaseback to free up cash! Its quiet common amought large corporations to reduce the money tied up in infrastructure and capital equipment. It can also be used by less scrupilious people to transfer money from company to another in a very grey way!
This money roundabouts games is like an accountants dream! The average person has no hope of understanding it.
